Dr. Michael Tsipursky is a dedicated professional in the field of ophthalmology, specializing in conditions and treatments of the retina -- macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, and retinal detachments and tears. He has performed thousands of retinal surgeries to help patients keep their vision.
Dr. Tsipursky earned his MD from Rosalind Franklin University, alongside a Master of Science. He completed his ophthalmology training at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL and retina fellowship at Associated Retinal Consultants in Phoenix, AZ with two of the leaders in the field of retina (Dr. Jampol and Dr. Peyman) where he was involved in extensive clinical research and had one of the highest surgical volumes in the country during his training. He was also involved in city wide trauma call. He continued his carrier in Champaign-Urbana at Carle Hospital/University of Illinois where he served as an assistant clinical professor, teaching students and residents, conducting clinical and translational research and doing high volume retina care for entire central Illinois. At first he became the head of retina service in the eye department and soon after at the age of 36 became the Chair of the Eye Department and built it to a semi-academic teaching facility with 12 providers with all subspecialities of ophthalmology and optometry represented.
Dr. Tsipursky has published extensively in peer reviewed journals and authored several book chapters. He continues to be active in research and to be at the cutting edge of retinal treatments. He regularly presents at scientific conferences and serves as a CEO of a biotechnology company which he co-founded with a professor at University of Illinois. He is an innovator and has been awarded several patents for his inventions relating to improving retinal diseases. His company (ReVive Biotechnology, Inc.) develops cutting edge therapeutics for the treatment of blinding ocular conditions. Dr Tsipursky consistently ranks as one of the best doctors in the nation and has been chosen by his peers to the Castle Connoly Best Doctors in America for 7 years in a row.
Dr. Tsipursky's commitment to excellence is evident through his certifications from the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO), and in memberships and recognition from various prominent organizations.
